Page numbers are one of the most requested finishing touches for any exported PDF — a report, a proposal, a thesis — yet most tools that add them require installing desktop software or uploading the document to a server first. This tool draws a numbered label directly onto every page of your PDF using pdf-lib, entirely inside your browser: pick a format ("3", "Page 3", "3 / 12", or "Page 3 of 12"), pick a corner (or bottom/top center), and the label is stamped onto each page at the size and position you choose. Nothing is uploaded — the PDF never leaves your device.
Two options make the numbering match real-world document structure. "Start numbering at" lets the displayed count begin somewhere other than 1 — useful when a report continues from a previous volume, or when you simply prefer a different starting number — while "Skip first page" leaves an unnumbered cover page untouched and begins numbering from the second physical page, the way a bound book or thesis is typically numbered. Both options combine freely with any of the four label formats and any of the four placements, so the result matches whatever numbering convention your document (or your style guide) actually calls for.

Can I start numbering from a page other than the first?
Yes, two ways: use "Skip first page" if you just want to leave an unnumbered cover page while the rest count normally from 1, or use the "start numbering at" field to make the displayed count begin at a different number entirely (useful when this document continues a series, e.g. a chapter that should start at page 45 of a larger book).
Will the page numbers overlap with my existing content?
It's possible if your document already has content very close to the edges — the tool places numbers near the page margin (bottom or top, per your chosen position) without checking what's already there, since it doesn't analyze the page's existing layout. If your document uses full-bleed content or already has its own footer, preview the result before relying on it and consider a position that avoids your existing elements.
